Ensign Peak
(Bonneville Shoreline Trail)

The Ensign Peak section of the Bonneville
Shoreline trail is a great singletrack ride to the radio(?) towers above
Ensign Peak, the trail has some sharp switchbacks and narrow spots, but is relatively
smooth and well cut. Upon reaching the saddle looking north towards Ogden
the trail comes to a "T". Going left takes you out to a nice
peak overlooking the Salt Lake Valley. Stay to the right for a few more
miles of singletrack, ending at a dirt road which you can take up to the radio
(?) towers. But be prepared for a pretty good climb!! For a longer, epic
ride, try the En-Mu
Loop.
How to get there: I've found the best place to park is at the State Capitol Building (East side). All mileage on this page is from there. Park on the east side of the Capitol and head up towards City Creek Canyon. The singletrack begins on the left just before the gate in City Creek Canyon. (the trail to the right is also part of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail click here to see the review on that section, Salt Lake Section of the BST)
Length: As an out and back from the State Capitol: 14.5 miles. (Singletrack, gravel road, double track)
Trailhead elevation: 4,450' Highest point: 5,677'
