Bonneville Shoreline Trail

"Salt Lake Section"

The Salt Lake section of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail gives up great views of the Wasatch Front Mountains and the Salt Lake Valley!  The trail has just enough challenge to keep more experienced riders happy, yet is gentle enough for the more inexperienced riders.  The technical sections are few and are not very long in distance.  Mainly near the trailheads, you must climb up to the level of the Shoreline, then the trail turns to a "rollercoaster" ride along the Salt Lake foothills!!  Dry Gulch (
Popperton Park) has one long sustained climb and one switchback.  Dry Gulch is not always dry!!

How to get there: The three trailheads that I use are:

  1. Popperton Park: This trailhead is located at 11th Ave. and Virginia Street. Right behind the Shriners Hospital. Just head for the "U" on the hill!

  2. City Creek Canyon:  Located at the mouth of City Creek Canyon, above Memory Grove. Parking is very limited here, most of the time I park at the State Capital and ride to the trailhead.

  3. This is the Place State Park: Located at the mouth of Emigration Canyon, (just across from Hogle Zoo).   Parking is also very limited here.
