Hidden Canyon

Hidden Canyon is an easier ride for the Moab area. If your a novice looking for a good, easy introduction to slickrock, this may be the ride for you. But, no ride on slickrock is entirely without hazards. Pick your line carefully and you'll have no problem, stop paying attention even for one second and you'll pay the price! With that said, here's my review of the ride. The slickrock is the white sandstone variety, as opposed to the predominantly red sandstone (Entrada) in the region. The trail is relatively easy to follow, it's marked with rock cairns and green dashes on the rock. 3/4 of a mile from the trailhead, look for a section of singletrack leading off to the left, this leads you to the first of three slickrock playgrounds. This area has seen a lot of abuse to the CRYPTOBIOTIC SOIL, so please stay on either the rock or the road/trail! Hidden Canyon itself is incredible!! And is more then worth the ride out to see!!

How to get there: Take Blue Hills Road (18 miles north of Moab) west off of US 191. If you pass the airport you've gone to far. At 2.5 miles stay right at the fork in the road (left goes to Bartlett Wash). At 3.7 take the road to the left. Stay straight on this road until mile 4.7 and a cattle guard. Parking is on left just inside the fence. You can park 0.3 mile back on the right if you want.

Length: 7 miles out and back, but you can put on countless miles playing on the slickrock!
