Little Mountain Loop

Little Mountain Loop is an excellent, quick ride above Emigration Canyon, with views of Little Dell Reservoir and Kilyon Canyon. The best thing about Little Mountain Loop is, even though it's only minutes from the Salt Lake Valley, once you reach the "back nine", you feel as if you're miles from civilization. The trail rises and descends numerous times, with the ascents becoming increasingly more difficult, reaching a 27 % grade on the last climb! The trail is low in technical difficulty, and very easy to follow. Watch for moose in Mountain Dell Canyon (we've spotted them every time we've ridden in the area, and the last time encountered 3 of them standing in the trail!!). You can add to this ride by combining it with the Big Mountain Trail and/or Lookout Peak.

How to get there: Take I-80 East up Parleys Canyon. Take the East Canyon/Mountain Dell Recreation Area Exit. Follow the road around Little Dell Reservoir. About 2 miles after the road turns away from the reservoir, look for parking and a restroom on the right hand side of the road. The singletrack starts on the west side of the road and is signed "Mormon Pioneer Trail".
