Mill D South Fork

Mill D South Fork
"trail" is actually an old mining
road heading up to the Cardiff Mine. It is pretty much one gut-busting
climb to the top! You will need lungs of leather and legs of steel to
climb all the way to the top! The "trail" is like riding up
a dry stream bed. But the beauty of the area and the feeling of solitude
(because it is such a hard climb most people avoid it) make this a great
ride. The old mining buildings at the top are very picturesque.
How to get there: From
I-215, take Exit 6 (look for the signs for the ski areas). Head east to
Wasatch Boulevard. At the second light, turn left up Big Cottonwood Canyon.
The trailhead is about 10 miles up the canyon. There will be signs for
Doughnut Falls. Park off the road (the road widens with parking areas
on both sides).
