Ophir Canyon

Ophir Canyon during the mid to late 1800's was a booming Old West mining town. Ophir was home to thousands of miners looking for silver, gold and other metals. This ride is relatively easy one, following a gravel road. The road winds up the canyon floor crossing Ophir Canyon Creek several times.  Depending on the time of year, you might want to portage the creek ( in the spring the creek's volume can be high!).  The old houses and mine site's along the way are on private property, so please respect the landowners and just look at them from the road.  The road ends abruptly at some upright railroad rails.    The land beyond is private property and permission must be gained before continuing.

How to get there: From Tooele take SR-36 south 12.5 miles to SR-73 and turn left. Go 4.7 miles to Ophir Canyon Road and turn left. You can start the ride just west of town, or drive through town to the Ophir Town Park (the road turns to dirt).
