Settlement Canyon
(Dark Trail)

Settlement Canyon also known as
"Dark Trail" is maintained
by the Tooele County Parks and Recreation. It is a good beginner
ride, it has one or two narrow rocky spots with one pretty good climb.
The upper portion of the trail is on private
property and permission must be granted before
going further..PLEASE
get permission first so that the land owners will continue to allow access
to their land!! And most important of all....RESPECT
their private property!!
How to get there: From
Tooele City Main Street head south out of town past the Go-Fer Food store.
1/2 mile further turn left on Settlement Canyon Road. Head east
up the road to the guard shack, park here and head up the canyon.
At the bottom of the first hill (paved road) take the first right on a
dirt road. Approximately 200 yards on the dirt road it turns to a singletrack!!
The trail ends at a yellow gate. The
property beyond the gate is privately owned. To gain permission
call: 1-435-843-3156 Tooele County Parks and Recreation.
( I highly recommend getting permission, because from here on up to the
top is the best part of the ride) Pick the trail up immediately
on the right after going around the gate. Follow the trail until it ends
at a dirt road, I've never made it to the top of the mountain yet! Good-luck!!

Distance: 8
miles out and back (to the large meadow) I'm not sure of the mileage
to the top of the mountain, it follows an old prospector road!!
