Soapstone Basin

Soapstone Basin is a great ride through the valleys of the uinta's!  The road takes you through forests of fir, spruce and aspen trees, and across beautiful open meadows.  About 10 miles into the ride you have the option of going to the Bluffs Overlook.  I highly recommend this little, but steep, side route.  The view is incredible!! You'll be looking 2,500 feet down to the Duchesne River Gorge.

How to get there: From Kamas head east on Highway 150 towards Mirror Lake, travel 14.5 miles. Turn south (right) on FDR 037.  Follow the signs for Wolf Creek Road.  You can park at Lambert Hollow (the end of the loop) or head up the hill to the sign for Cold Spring and park here.
