Timpanooke Trail

Timpanooke Trail is an incredibly scenic singletrack around the northern side of Mount Timpanogos. It has three points to start from! The first ( and my choice) is located on the Sundance side of the Alpine Loop Road. It shares the trailhead for the climb up Mount Timpanogos at Aspen Grove. The trail up Mount Timp is a wilderness area, so make sure you hang a right 1/2 mile up the trail. The second trailhead is located at the summit of the Alpine Loop, from here take trail 159 north. The third trailhead is the Timpanooke Trailhead. From this parking area, head south about 25 yards (to the information booth), then west on the GWF Trail (151). The topo map and all mileage for my description of this ride are from the Aspen Grove Trailhead. Timpanooke Trail has a couple of really nasty climbs (walks), but the sweet singletrack, and incredible views make up for any hardships you'll endure on this trail! The trail crosses the Timpanooke road a few times, so you can bail out and head back at any time!

How to get there: Take US 189 up Provo Canyon, turn left on UT92, the Alpine Loop Highway. There is a $3.00 fee to use the area.
